Jaw Joint Disorders

Jaw joint disease is a disorder that is mostly seen in young and middle-aged people. This discomfort manifests itself with symptoms such as head, ear, jaw-facial pain, tinnitus, noise from the jaw joint, limitation in mouth opening, pain or slippage. Sometimes it continues for years without clinical symptoms, and sometimes it continues as a discomfort that bothers people.

Reasons
There are many reasons for the formation of jaw joint discomfort. You may be unwittingly clenching or grinding your teeth, which can overload your jaw joint and facial muscles. You may have a non-physiological occlusion that may cause jaw joint discomfort, or you may have previously suffered a trauma to the maxillofacial region.

Solutions
There is no single treatment for the correction of problems in your jaw joint. Harmony in the maxillofacial region is achieved with various treatment modalities such as reducing spasm in the maxillofacial muscles, ensuring an optimum closure, or getting rid of excessive loads on the jaw joints. Filling, prosthetic and crown bridges with incomplete occlusion compliance (closure) should be reviewed. A special apparatus, the night plate, should be made to balance your closing line and prevent excessive chewing pressures.

Is jaw joint discomfort a problem for you?
Because you can't imagine that headaches and tooth wear may be related to your jaw joint, there may be jaw joint discomfort for a long time without realizing it. The jaw-facial muscles and the closure of your teeth affect the function of your jaw joint.
